Buddy Buddy

Buddy is a great 11-year-old male IGGY and still on the lookout for his forever home. He is such a well-rounded dog. He loves every person he’s ever met. He is curious and very friendly to other dogs of all sizes and shapes. We consider Buddy the official IG good-will ambassador of our house. Whenever we get a new foster, it’s Buddy that happily welcomes them into the pack, shows them the ropes and becomes their go-to IG bestie in the house. Buddy is a very confident IG. He’s in good health and remains very active. He’s considered a big Iggy in stature. He’s LOVES to go for daily walks and car rides are great too (very exciting in fact). Buddy loves food and is a bona fide kitchen dog, happily cleaning up anything that might fall to the floor as his foster mom cooks. He is crate trained and a champ with the dog door. He’s a total lover but can be independent as well. Buddy’s favorite things; a warm blanket straight from the dryer, the sound of the cheese drawer opening in the fridge, naps under the blankets right next to his foster parents, fires in the woodstove during winter and a chaise lounge in the sun in the summer. He is simply the best IG foster we’ve ever had in 10 years of fostering. Buddy has one big challenge that gets him overlooked. Buddy is a marker. Before finding his way to rescue, Buddy lived outside for the first 8 years of his life and changing that behavior has proved unsuccessful for us. To combat this, when we’re gone, Buddy is crated and we have our dog sitter come every 3 hours to give him potty/crate breaks. This isn’t to say that someone that is home often/retired and has the time and tenacity to train him couldn’t find success in helping him understand the only good potty is outside. He’s super smart and very treat motivated. He learned to sit and stay with the help of treats. It would take time, dedication and consistency. The things that are essential for Buddy; a fenced yard, a household with another dog, an active human that wants to go for walks every day, a crate and a loving human that will dedicate the time needed to make him the best dog he could possibly be, cause he’s already close to perfect.
